How to Utilise Full Moon Energy

One of the most powerful energies that you can bring into your life, is that of the full moon. It’s positive, cleansing light can be used in so many different ways whether it be affecting our mood, a focus for meditation or charging up our rituals. A full moon occurs when the Earth is positioned between the Sun and the Moon and so appears fully illuminated from Earth’s point of view.

How you connect to the Full Moon is completely personal to you if you choose to do it but I have a specific routine I always go through whenever the moon is Full. You can spend time meditating under the light of the full moon or you can focus on a candle as representation for the Full moon. You can complete rituals concerning starting a new project, bringing protection to your life or for bringing energy to love, career and home aspects of your life. The full moon can be utilised in so many different ways but it’s bright energy is fantastic for anything you do concerning new beginnings, healing, creativity or protection.

My favourite way to draw upon the Full Moon is to complete a full cleanse of myself, my tools and my crystals as you’ll have seen from some of my Instagram posts and below I’m going to share with you how I complete this.

  1. To start off with I place all my crystals into a container out under the moon, I then cover the crystals in water with some salt in it as the salt with absorb any dark or negative energies the crystals are storing and help to get rid of them. (Please check whether the crystals you are planning to cleanse are safe to place in water before doing this.) I like to leave my crystals out over night to absorb all of the lunar energy and to thoroughly cleanse.

  2. One thing I like to do on the day of the full moon is head to Lush and pick out two bath bombs to combine to specifically suit my needs that month. If I feel like I need to bring love and kindness to my life, I will head for rose scents and pink colours as both these things are associated with love. If I feel I need calming or emotion balancing, I’ll pick something blue or with a sandalwood scent to help calm mental chatter.

  3. I then run a hot bath and whilst this is running I place some crystals in a small bag. Just like with the bath bombs, I try to match the crystals I use towards what I feel I need such as Clear Quartz for healing, Rose Quartz for love or beauty or Dragon’s Blood for balance.

  4. I then place them into the bath. Usually, I like to light a lot of candles, as safely as possible, around the edge of the bath to help bring a representation of moonlight into my windowless bathroom. However if you have a window and can see the moon, you may not need to do this.

  5. I immerse myself in the water and put the bombs in with me. As they swirl and release they’re beautiful scents and colours, I take some time to meditate. I try to focus on what I want to bring to myself and what I need to do in order to help myself obtain these things. I also spend some time meditating, using the candlelight as focus, thanking the moon for its constant strong presence and for lending me its strength in the previous month.

  6. I finish off by washing my body and hair and let all of the water drain away. I extinguish the candles (never blow them out as that will nullify all the energy you’ve been building up) and add the crystals I’ve been using to the other crystals I’m currently cleasning.

Since I started doing this every month, I’ve noticed that my mood, general confidence and happiness do seem to be more consistence and put this down to the full moon lending me her strength and guidance in my day-to-day life. I find that my energy throughout the month completely changes if I do this compared to what happens if I don’t so I highly recommend connecting to the full moon energy if you are experiencing a low period in your life.

I’d love to know how you connect to the Full moon so please leave some comments of photos of what you do for January’s Full moon on the 31st.
