Mental health is often wrapped up in trying to be spiritual or to get more spirituality into your life and so this article is going to be all about subtle ways you can look after your mental health with crystal healing and aromatherapy.


Crystals are great natural resources to use in helping with healing and calming in terms of mental health. As Raven (p. 10, 2017) discusses they ‘…have a remarkable capacity to absorb, store, reflect and radiate… [as well as]… restore balance and stability.’ When anxiety is riding high, crystals can be great objects to turn over in your hands to keep them busy. As you turn them, they can bring healing energy into you helping you through whatever is going on.


Another way you can use crystals is to meditate with them. By using crystals to meditate you help to focus your mind and again, bring the crystal’s energy into you. Repeated meditation on the crystal can also help open up the chakras especially if you choose specific crystals for the different chakra points as they can help to ‘…realign, rebalance and energise the chakras into appropriate functions.’ (p.11, Raven, 2017).


For me, just holding relevant crystals tightly massively helps in controlling my mental health waves as I can focus and feel the bright energy flowing into my body helping to bring my mind back where it needs to be. There are a lot of different great crystals for different things and the best way to find them is to find the different crystals that work for you. Some people connect differently to different crystals so it’ll take time and personal experimentation to find the crystals that work for you.


Aromatherapy is another fantastic tool to help with mental health as it can change your mindset and the environment of the room you’re in. You can buy pre-mixes from different companies or make your own. One company that I’ve been using a lot recently is Made By Coopers who have a fantastic mix of scents for different occasions including mixes for relaxation, focus and sleep and I highly recommend them. If your mind is racing or anxiety is riding high, lavender is a great scent to use. Whether it’s as incense, sprays, tea or bean bags – it can help to relax, calm and reduce stress. Chamomile is also great for similar things to lavender but can also help to fight against nightmares and to bring sleep. If your mind is foggy and struggling to focus then eucalyptus can really help to bring concentration. Just like with crystals, different scents will fit with different people. If you find one you don’t like, there are many different ones out there that can help bring different things. Trial and error is the best method as you will find scents that are your favourite.


As anyone who has dealt with mental health knows, it can be very difficult to find things to help. Although these things can all help, they are by no means a cure. I find focuses on these things really help me to get through things day-to-day and I hope you find these little tips helpful too.
