  • A lighter/match

After I attended a workshop by The Village Witcha few weeks ago, I decided to put this bauble together for my Godmother as part of her Yule/Christmas present as I felt that she, of all people, would benefit from the happy, festive love and protection that the witch bottle would bring. It was my first attempt at a witch bottle but it certainly turned out well in my opinion.

To start off I prepared all off the above items ready to incorporate them into the bauble. Not all of the above are essential and you can change and choose different items to change the effects of the bottle. I would suggest changing the items so that it is more personalised for the person you are creating it for.

The first thing I did was write the name, date of birth and star sign of the person the bauble/bottle was intended for onto a small piece of paper so that all the positive energies and intentions I projected into the spell-weaving would definitely go towards the intended person. I wrapped it into a tube and placed it inside the bauble. Next I started mixing all of the above herbs together in a small container. I wanted to make sure that the mixture was right before I put it into the bauble.

I wanted it to smell like Christmas so that it would invoke the festive energy straight away. It was a lot of experimenting and back and forth until I got it just the way that I wanted it. Once I was happy with the smell and texture of it all, I added the different colours of glitter to aid bringing in love, prosperity, luck and winter joy. Whilst I mixed all of the ingredients together, I focused on all of the things I wanted to bring to the person I was creating it for and why I wanted to bring it to them to help bring that energy and goodness to the mixture. All of this resulted in my mixture looking like this. Not very attractive I know but it definitely smelled like Christmas cookies and held so much good energy and positivity.

Yours may look vastly different depending on whether or not you decided to change things to bring different energies to the person you’re creating the bauble for. After this I placed the crystals into the bauble. Unfortunately, two of my crystals, the moss agate and the clear quartz, did not fit through the holes so I decided to find a way to incorporate them at a later point. Next was pouring the mixture into the bauble which I decided to do over the sink. Thank goodness I did as the mixture went everywhere so I would definitely suggest keeping a cloth nearby to mop up any messes.

Once the mixture was in, I topped up the rest of the bauble with golden syrup until it was very nearly full. This was the part where I needed to figure out how to get the other two crystals in. I decided that the best way was to place them almost as stoppers in the mouth of the bottle and then seal the bottle and the crystals in place with melted wax. For aesthetic purposes, I decided to let the wax run down the side of the bottle as decoration too.

With all this the bauble was completed. It is designed to bring love, festive happiness and prosperity to the received and can be invoke by shaking and swirling the mixture around inside the bauble. This bauble can be invoked either only at Christmas to help say goodbye to the winter or left on a surface to help bring it in all year round. Either way the bauble’s energy will continue to work all year round and bring all the wonderful things you put into it into your life.
